Mischievous kids need mischievous pastimes. That is unless you can manage to keep them entertained with something that doesn’t end up with you having to clear up the mess afterwards anyway.

Why not try and get them to race two of Britain’s best-loved comic characters – Dennis the Menace and his best pal, Gnasher! Unless they’re racing them through a muddy field and then bringing them in and racing them across the new cream living room carpet then there’s little trouble these Beano critters can cause!

Simply wind up the small Gnasher and Dennis the Menace plastic toys using the little dials on their sides and set them off to find out who is the fastest menace. They look just like the real thing (well, as real as a cartoon can be) and they’re both sporting those usual cheeky grins which imply they’re up to something a little more naughty than simply having a running race. Still, we will ignore that and take them at face value!

Both of these wind up Beano characters come in the same package and require no batteries or alternate power source. Kids can pick Dennis and Gnasher up, twist the little white dial, place them on a flat surface and race them all on their own without supervision or help. They’re not recommended for kids under three simply because they are quite small but otherwise they’re the ideal gift for an easily bored kid. Just make sure they don’t get too competitive!
