Hops are the female flower cluster of this humulus plant, a member of the hemp family. Hops are also the essential ingredient in making beer (among other things.) So, if you want to grow your own beer, grow some hops! (note: you can’t really make beer from this plant at home, even though you are technically growing beer!)
